How to Download your Approved PNPKI Digital Certificate (Step-by-step tutorial with images)

What is PNPKI (Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure)?

Users of public networks such as the Internet can safely exchange private data thanks to public key infrastructure (PKI). PKI is a collection of technology, software, policies, people, and processes for creating, managing, distributing, using, storing, and revoking digital certificates. The PKI is one of the Department of Information and Communications Technology's (DICT) main services, and it will help to build trust in the government by providing secure and trustworthy online transactions.

The usage of the PKI will improve all government web applications, ultimately increasing the delivery of government services to citizens. The concept of digital certificates is at the heart of the PKI. These certificates are relatively small files that can be kept on your computer, a USB token, or a regular flash drive. The PKI authenticates the data source and ensures that data has not been altered with in transit by using certificates issued and digitally signed by a Certificate Authority (CA). PKI can also encrypt data such as emails and online transactions.
